Hello everyone!
My name is Jess Punting and welcome to Solefooter.
As you have probably guessed I’m a bit obsessed with travelling and I created this blog many moons ago to share all of my life-changing experiences with the world.
For as long as I can remember I’ve been travelling the world, my dad has been in the army since I was a baby so we’ve travelled all over the world with him.
My family came back to the UK when I was 14 so I could complete school and go to university. Reluctantly, I agreed (education was never my forte) and graduated from Manchester University 2 years ago with a degree in Travel Tourism.
Mum & Dad always instilled in me that seeing the world was the best way to learn and I guess that has really stuck with me, probably more than they ever imagined. When I graduated from university, I headed to South America on a trip. Initially, I was only meant to be going for 3 months but that quickly turned into 6, then 9 and I’ve been travelling for 2 years since.
I never imagined I would be travelling for this long, or even that this would become my norm, but it has and I couldn’t be happier.
I set up Sole Footer around 12 months ago. I really enjoy writing and wanted somewhere to share my experiences. To be honest, I didn’t think anyone would pay much attention but the blog quickly began to grow and I soon had a community of loyal readers who were joining me on my adventures.
Growing up living all over the world I think I have become accustomed to not really settling down and it’s why living this life really suits me.
Here on Sole Footer, you’ll find all kinds of content from tips on how to communicate with locals to respecting cultures and how to find cheap flights all the way over to the best places to visit as a lone backpacker or where to find the best beaches. Sole Footer is an all-encompassing travel blog that welcomes you to join me on my adventures as I continue to see the world.
As you can probably imagine, I sometimes lack wifi and the time to sit and blog which means that I welcome guest blogs with open arms. If you’re a traveller like me and want to share your tips, tricks and experiences, then please do not hesitate to write for us.
